My daughter got me a vintage lighting book for Christmas. I took a stab at Edwardian lighting today.
I put a soft box overhead to mimic a skylight, and diffused light coming from the living room window to camera left to open my face a bit more. I also placed a reflector card just to the right of me to throw a little more light at my back. I processed the photos in Color Efex Pro to give them a vintage feel.
You can see a few more at my SmugMug gallery.

I manage looking vintage without playing with the light . . .
Dear Carissa, the first one is one of my best of yours, this is so beautiful one. So beautiful. Thank you, Blessing and Happiness, love, nia
Thank you so much, nia! I really like that one too. Happy New Year!
What a great experiment, Carissa. I like the first one, too!
Thanks, Melanie!
Nicely done. I’m sure you’re having a lot of fun experimenting. What a lovely gift from your daughter.
Thanks, Maralee. The author also gets into vintage Hollywood photography, and that will be quite the challenge!
You are beautiful, and so natural in front of the camera. The lighting is so beautiful too. The first one is amazing.
Thank you, Inga. It seems to be the perennial favorite of all. Perhaps I should have just posted that one!
My favorite is the one where you’re looking into the camera. Makes your eyes look DEEP!
Thanks, Rita!
